14th August 1947 is the date that made us Pakistanis to reach the position we have presently achieved in our individual capacities. The significance of Independence Day resides more firmly in the hearts of those who value freedom (which should be clearly distinguished from the much talked about liberalism). On 14th August 1947, Pakistan appeared on the map of globe. This is the day that gave Indian Muslims a separate piece of land to practice Islam in every walk of life. It was the demand of Indian Muslims which was demonstrated by them in the elections of 1945-46.

Joe O’Brien, who recently served as a human rights observer in the region with the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme. He went to the sacred land on a call from some church authority which aggrieved over the oppressions Palestinians are facing at the hands of Israel, call peace loving people of the world to this most cruel and humiliating situation

Do you know how I came to know about Peshawar blast? While talking to a Swiss student of my class when he asked my country, he said he knew Pakistan because there was some news about it in the paper he read in morning then he showed me the blast news and said "you belong to a very dangerous place" looking at my scarf suspiciously.

Some students are having naps, others are interested in the scene outside the classroom,few others are secretly grinning over a joke cracked by a friend,some are trying to find the ways to run out of the class and have fun in cafeteria. Whereas teacher is all interested in speaking himself (only God knows what :D)without realizing the comical situation created by his lecture.

Well, the situation is that no one is clear about the militants who they are: Taliban or some external agents, about their agendas and their leader, previously they said it was Sufi Mohammad then it appeared he did not have much influence over them (militants).And there is total uncertainty about them. Our politicians and government machinery too sometimes appear to be confused. Someone clearly outsider is playing inside Pakistan. Discussions and interests on international level are very intimidating.

What is going on?

I just returned from Malakand last night after visiting camps of displaced people in Mardan, Sawabi and Malakand. There are over 1.5 million people who are living in miserable condition in these camps. every house in these areas has become a refugee camp. The locals have accommodated as many people as they can in their Hujras and their own homes. But there are more and more families coming out of swat, Buner, Dir and Malakand every day.
